Le 4 juin 2014 restera la date "D Day" pour le lancement officiel du .paris ! L'Afnic* était à l'honneur sur la Tour Eiffel et au Trocadéro, pendant toute la soirée, ainsi que les 100 premiers inscrits au .paris  Revoir l'événement en images et 1min36.

* L'Afnic est le registre officiel des noms de domaine .fr (France), .re (Île de la Réunion), .yt (Mayotte), .wf (Wallis et Futuna), .tf (Terres Australes et Antarctiques) et .pm (Saint-Pierre et Miquelon).

L'Afnic se positionne également comme fournisseur de solutions techniques et de services de registre, elle accompagne notamment 17 projets de nouveaux gTLD auprès de l'ICANN dont le .paris et le .bzh. L'Afnic - Association Française pour le Nommage Internet en Coopération - est composée d'acteurs publics et privés : représentants des pouvoirs publics, utilisateurs et prestataires de services Internet (bureaux
d'enregistrement). Elle est à but non lucratif.
